LOVE HIS WORD

A Blog by Teresa Herold

"Take GOD at HIS WORD":

I want to share a daily verse from GOD’s WORD. Today’s verse is Joshua 1:9. “Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed? For the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. “

Joshua and Caleb are wonderful examples of strong men. Now, I don’t know if they worked out and could bench press a lot of weight, but the strength that Joshua and Caleb possessed came from the LORD. They were the only two spies that, despite seeing the walled cities and the large people, were still ready to go into battle. Their only basis was because GOD said so. Life would be different if you and I didn’t analyze a situation but only went by “What saith the LORD.” Numbers 13:1-2 record the Lord’s instructions, “And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Send thou men, that they may search the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel: of every tribe of their fathers shall ye send a man, every one a ruler among them.” Now the Lord did not have the men to go in order to decide if they were able to defeat the enemy or not, but to simply get excited about what an amazing land HE had decided to give them. Remember in verse 2 of chapter 13, the LORD said, “…search the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel:…”Of the 12 spies only Joshua and Caleb were excited about what they saw because they believed what GOD said. It was to be theirs. Continue reading through chapter 14 and you will see the other 10 were discouraged and scared because they only saw the obstacles. For some reason those men thought the plan involved them deciding if GOD had and good idea or not. GOD saw it as being called a liar. It doesn’t matter what we see, when GOD says something else. GOD’s WORD tells us over and over to not fear. What kind of man or woman are you? Are you strong enough to take GOD at HIS WORD in spite of how big the enemy is? Some people discourage others by seeing only the danger involved or the great obstacles that stand in the way. They cause others to get discouraged, fear and even rebel against GOD. Don’t be dismayed by what you see or even hear from others, but draw strength from what GOD says. I want to try to be more like Joshua and Caleb. I have to admit I have to keep returning to HIS WORD to remind myself of what HE says about it, but that is where strength and courage comes from.

Continuing to LOVE HIS WORD

GOD Bless you
